Function first
We begin with a recognizable need and the routines around it, then remove details that do not help.
A home isn't a showroom.It's where life happens.
Founded by Glen Xiao in Hong Kong in 2023, GISTAR began with a simple idea: a happier home is built one useful detail at a time.
Our approach
Useful products.
Considered design.
Clear guidance.
Before GISTAR had a name, Glen Xiao kept noticing the small detours that filled an evening at home: keys left on the wrong surface, a reading light just out of reach, a simple meal slowed by a stubborn can. No single moment needed a grand solution. Together, they made him wonder how much better an ordinary evening could feel.
In 2023, he founded GISTAR in Hong Kong to make those moments easier. We design for the things people actually do at home, then make it simpler to choose, use, and care for each product.
Four principles
The thinking behind what we make.
Simple by design
Dimensions, compatibility, installation, and care should be clear before a product enters your space.
Support that stays useful
Manuals, product questions, and human support remain available after the box is opened.
Made for real homes
Products should fit lived-in spaces: useful storage, comfortable light, and simpler everyday tasks.
A closer look
Considered in the details.
From the feel of a material to the way a piece fits into a room, it's the smaller choices that shape the everyday experience.
01
The material
A closer look at texture, finish, and the feeling an object brings to a room.
02
The fit
Thinking through proportions and the small decisions that make a product easier to live with.
03
The finish
Attention to the surfaces and edges you see and touch every day.
Made to live with
Details that make everyday objects feel easier to keep.
01
Designed around real routines.
We look at where an object sits, how often it is reached for, and what would make the moment around it feel simpler.
Clear before it enters your home.
Useful dimensions, honest product details, and straightforward guidance help you decide with less guesswork.
Support after the box is opened.
Manuals, practical answers, and a route to a real support team stay available when you need the next step.
